Each day closer to Christmas is just more stressful than the last. The holidays have so much pressure on doing the right thing, saying the right thing, having new goals, meeting old goals. So for today I want to look back on 2018 and see if I met some of my goals and if not where I went wrong.
Lets start with the Goals I wrote down at the beginning of the year.
- Attend a Book Festival
- Be approved for a physical ARC
- Get amazon reviewer ranking down below 20000
- Be a part of 5 street teams
- Gain 1000 followers on twitter
- Get 200 followers on blog
Lets see how I did.
- Attend a Book Festival
Unfortunately this didn’t happen this year no matter how much I planned. Being a military spouse its hard to plan ahead. Most notices are a few weeks in advance. But my partner got to go to Yallfest (I am deeply jealous and ugh). Maybe next year I can go to one.
2. Be Approved for a Physical ARC
Sadly this one didn’t happen either. I think my stats weren’t high enough or I just wasn’t doing it right. But I did get a few responses and e-ARCs on NetGalley so I am calling it a 1/2 win. The fact that I got any response is better than nothing. Plus a blog doesn’t need ARCs to be good!
3. Amazon reviewer to below 20000
This one I did, for about 2 weeks. Now I am hovering right around there and that is ok. I don’t want to spend all my time reading on my kindle and miss out on physical books. But I am still really proud of my efforts.
4. Be a part of 5 street teams
I am so happy to say that this one did happen. I am loving being a part of a street team. It feels so rewarding helping an author get their book out there. I hope to continue being able to do this as it was one of the best parts of the year.
5. Gain 1000 followers on Twitter
I am so happy to say I am at 1500 and I honestly can’t believe it. I started twitter just over 2 years ago and I didn’t really pick up speed until this year. I hope to gain more followers but for the fact that people genuinely want to be my friend and share out love of books.
Side note I love talking books so come find me.
6. 200 Blog Followers
*Cries* I did it. I passed that. My blog is just over a year old. It took till almost Aug of this year for anyone to want to read it. I have come so far in a year and I cannot wait to see what next year brings.
On the Goodreads side I beat my challenge. 3 years in a row. You can check out my books and year in review here: 2018 Year in Books If we aren’t friends on Goodreads feel free to add me as well. I am getting better at using it and remembering to use it but I am still kind of bad at updating it.
Did you set book goals for this year? How did you do? I have such a problem with goals and keeping to them so getting even a few done was pretty impressive.
