Mini Reviews – Kindle Edition

Hello. Again an absence in blogging for me. It seems every time I get started and on a roll life puts up crazy. This week it was hospital visits and kidney stones. I have been on bed rest all week and yet haven’t had the energy to do anything but binge watch shows. But here we go. A post on the kindle books I read.

First up a new release: Fever King

In the former United States, sixteen-year-old Noam Álvaro wakes up in a hospital bed, the sole survivor of the viral magic that killed his family and made him a technopath. His ability to control technology attracts the attention of the minister of defense and thrusts him into the magical elite of the nation of Carolinia.

The son of undocumented immigrants, Noam has spent his life fighting for the rights of refugees fleeing magical outbreaks—refugees Carolinia routinely deports with vicious efficiency. Sensing a way to make change, Noam accepts the minister’s offer to teach him the science behind his magic, secretly planning to use it against the government. But then he meets the minister’s son—cruel, dangerous, and achingly beautiful—and the way forward becomes less clear. Caught between his purpose and his heart, Noam must decide who he can trust and how far he’s willing to go in pursuit of the greater good.

Thoughts:
The X-Men meets snarky fun in this post apocalyptic world. It is a fun read with so much detail you won’t have a problem imagining this world. Perfect for fans of vicious, X-Men, and anything super power related.
I have to say my hubby enjoyed the storyline more than I did. I had to keep telling him what was happening with the powers.
*This is lbgtq.

***This is a Feb First read for Amazon meaning you can get it free for Kindle if you are a Prime member.

When 17-year-old Scarlet Monroe arrives to the sleepy seaport town of Rosalyn Bay, Ireland, the last thing she expects is to get tangled up in the dark and mysterious world of The Connelly Boys.

Popular, wealthy, and devastatingly beautiful, the four brothers have effortlessly cast a spell on just about everyone. Especially eldest brother Jack, the most breathtaking of the boys and the one to whom Scarlet feels inexplicably drawn.   There’s just one problem: Jack is cursed. At least that’s what the local superstitions and folklore say. But when demons start hunting her down, Scarlet quickly realizes Jack Connelly, cursed or not, may be the only one who can help her.  Especially when she discovers the truth of who and what she really is…and how she might be all that stands between an ancient evil and the fate of everyone she loves.

THIS IS NOT A REVERSE HAREM. I don’t read those unless its for a requested review. That said I did read this because it did look like a romance. THERE WAS NONE! None, zip, no slow burn or anything. Although according to the author it was there and the next book will be hot. Beyond that the story was meh. Just meh.
It is in KU if you have that.
