Can you believe it is already week two of this book? Things have gotten a bit bad this week. I mean what else could go wrong. We start with Clary freaking out over what a break up actually means. Jace is hiding from her. It is all a big mess. But dang do we end up with quite the steamy scene. So worth all the drama to get that. What do you think? Do you enjoy where this is going? Do you like Simon better now? What is going to happen next?!
Clary overhears Jocelyn on the phone about the dead baby. Jocelyn thinks it could be the same thing that happened to Jonathan so she wants to check it out. However, Clary catches her in the lie and demands to go with her. Clary states that it’s time to start trusting her and Luke – Jocelyn doesn’t need to keep things a secret anymore. If you were Jocelyn, do you think you would finally let Clary and Luke all the way in or still keep things to yourself?
This part of the book was thrown at me. I hadn’t remembered or thought about dead babies. I mean who does? But I do like that Clary jumps in and says her peace about being lied too. I mean her whole life was basically a lie you would want people to not anymore. Trust Issues and all. The only downside is the fact that she had to overhear the conversation.
But I do think Jocelyn needs to stop with all the lying. She has spent the better part of her life lying about everything to everyone. So it is probably super hard to stop. That being said it is time to open up. She is marrying Luke..
Simon had it pretty tough in these chapters. Strangers trying to kill him, Maureen, and then Izzy and Maya finding out that he’s been seeing them both. Do you think Simon handled everything in the best way?
Poor Simon. I mean he started out in the Shadowhunters books as this dorky best friend who only had eyes for Clary. Now he is a vampire, kind of dating two girls, and people are trying to murder him. He has grown so much and I love him so.
As for how he handled it. Probably as well as I would have. I mean he has the Mark so he can’t really be hurt. But the fact that he decided to lure them out and trust his friends with what was happening was big of him. Especially trusting Jace and letting him help. It felt super mature. I mean until he went off the deep end and bit Maureen. Then his two girlfriends. It was kind of a hard few chapters. Here is hoping he comes back around in the next few chapters.
Here is hoping in the next few chapters we see something happen to Camille. Jace figures his shiznit out. Simon learns from his mistakes and gets himself a real girlfriend. Instead of trying to be a player and enjoying his vampire good looks. But my biggest wish that I want to see. More Isabelle. These chapters only had her appearing as a side character. I want her badass front and center. As well as Magnus/Alec sexyness.
